Abrasive sheet lapping OK but be careful the surface isnt marred, dinged, or dented. All raised metal should be dressed or stoned or flat filed flush.

Oct 11, 2015 The last printer I had that did actually print straight to aluminum was a 3DStuffmaker Evolution and that aluminum was anodized and had a special coating on it. I am not so sure just plain aluminum works that well. Honestly I would use it as a heat spreader then put glass on top of the aluminum.

Cut the sheet metal so it's the same size as you want the print to be. Use measuring tape and a straightedge to measure and mark the sheet metal.
