This, as we've mentioned, is the reason a 2618 piston requires more clearance, and as a result, will be slightly noisier when cold as opposed to a comparable 4032 forging. This billet racing piston is the perfect usage of 2618 alloy.

Jan 31, 2015 Alloy 2618 is often described as having higher strength than 4032, but at elevated temperatures (where pistons tend to operate), the strength distinction becomes quite small (Table 3). In fact, at 400°F, the 32 ksi YS of 4032 alloy is 18% higher than that of 2618 (27 ksi) at the same temperature.
The standard price includes a fully-assembled short-block with a 4.00" stroke crankshaft with your choice of 24x or 58x reluctor wheel. All resleeved blocks are fully machined and assembled at our facility, and we use state-of-the-art Darton dry sleeves that have a much higher tensile strength than the standard GM sleeves.
