These rods create stronger welds than standard TIG welding rods for aluminum. ER5183 rods are used for welding aluminum 5083, 5086, and 5456 to themselves or to 5052, 5652, and 5056. ER5356 rods are for aluminum 5050, 5052, 5083, 5356, 5454, and 5456. ER5554 rods are for aluminum 3004, 5052, 5083, 5086, 5154, and 5456.

The rod must correctly match the material to be welded, and the thickness of the material will determine the diameter of the rod. Most TIG rods are mild steel, stainless steel, nickel, aluminum, etc.

I can't speak for Pacific skiff but the console is probably 5052 ( Its easier to bend) If they have the skills to TIG weld they should be able to weld with 5356 wire.
