In my mind that would be the easiest and most affordable fix. Edit: The more I think about it if you have a 90* air drill and a short bit you may be able to fix it on the car if the bolt is up front.

Nov 25, 2017  Obviously there was not enough aluminum left in the hole to hold the stud. It is possible that turning the bolt before it snapped pulled some material off the walls of the hole and as a result the depth of the threads was insufficient. My default plan for something like this would be to use a Helicoil or some other type of thread insert.
