Feb 16, 2006 Most removers are alkaline pH. Aluminum does not like bases, but is OK with acids. Steel is the opposite. So strippers intended for aluminum are going to be acid pH. The acid activated strippers are also VERY aggressive. The stuff they sell at the hardware and auto paint stores as 'Aircraft Stripper' is a piss poor excuse for aircraft stripper.
