The rods do not have flux on them and they state that you do not need flux to weld with these either in propane of oxy/acet. Please advise PS the 4043 rods melt at 730 to 780 degrees.

Oct 05, 2010 OK everybody; I have used alumaloy to repair many boat props and resold them without any complaints. It takes practice, but it works and is as strong as they say. You have to heat the piece you are trying to repair to melt the alumaloy. hint-- Mapp gas works better especially if the repair is bigger as in aluminum head
Nov 12, 2006 I found a box of flux cored 1/8" aluminum filler rods for gas welding at work. I had never thought of gas welding aluminum until recently when MIG and TIG weren't available. I tried using the flux cored rods and they worked pretty good. I fixed two cast air intake pipes, about 1/4" thick through the cross section, and the repair worked quite well.

Apr 02, 2008 I use Mapp Gas versus the propane.....the alumaloy rod has a melt point of like 720 degrees or so.....the aluminum alloy you might be trying to work on or braze together has a melt point of 900 to 1200 degrees depending on the alloy.....it is not easy..not like you see on TV.

评论数: 1.3KMay 31, 2021 the rods need to be pristine and clean. as in never opened clean the surface needs to be extremely clean, as in freshly sanded clean the torch needs to be hot. and then you have a fine line between a so-so repair and a big melted hole I had the best luck paying my radiator guy to weld aluminum (he was less expensive than most aluminum shops.
Feb 15, 2010 I need to make a small aluminum repair (non structural) . I saw some Hobart aluminum brazing rods at TSC and wanted to know more . Do they require the tinning stainless steel brushing like the similar type rods sold by the online sellers ( Aladdin 3in1, Alumaloy, HTS-2000 etc ). Any recommendations on how to work with these are appreciated .
