Jan 03, 2017 Figures 3.6.2.2.1 (c) (d) show the effect of exposure at various times/temps on RT mechanical properties of 6061-T6. 356 is a common cast aluminum alloy for wheels. The heat treatment schedule calls for aging at 310F. So, a powder coat cure temp of 390 would overage this alloy and degrade the tensile strength.

Jan 11, 2011 Producing a Thick Anodic Coating on 6061-T6. Our customer has requested .004-inch (100µ, 4 mil) coating thickness on 6061-T6. We normally anodize this part to .002-inch thickness. Our process is 28 V, bath temperature 32°F, for 1 hr. We are not sure of exactly what the best procedure is to hardcoat anodize to this coating thickness.
