Dec 14, 2019 To make a billet rod, MGP starts with a solid block of aluminum that's 12-feet long and 3/4-inch thick. This material has grains that all run in the same direction from end to end. Making connecting rods out of this billet material wasn't possible until the machines and processes were developed to make it happen.
预计阅读时间:11 分钟Aluminum Connecting Rods . The Pro-series alloy has up to 24% increased tensile and yield strength over competitors' rod alloys. All alloys are cold extruded under 2,000+ tons of pressure to ensure consistent grain flow and density. This yields the strongest and lightest rod possible with an exceptional fatigue life and reduced elongation.
预计阅读时间:2 分钟Aluminum Connecting Rods. For decades, aluminum connecting rods have been made from forgings, plates, and extrusions, machined to suit. For sake of comparison, we'll be talking about forgings and extrusions, since both have relatively equal grain structures and material characteristics. There are plusses and minuses to each process.

The fasteners in most BME Rods are made of 8740 chromium-molybdenum steel, a quenched and tempered steel alloy having a yield strength of 180,000-psi and tensile strength of 200,000-psi. These fasteners have a excellent margin of strength for the vast majority of aluminum connecting rod applications.
Jul 14, 2017 Franklin Club's factory drawing files show aluminum rods used in the Series 10 in early 1920's. They continued to use aluminum rods at least until 1932. Earlier connecting rod drawing numbers don't show up in the file, so I'm not sure if aluminum rods were used with earlier production. Yes, the rods and caps were supplied in Lynite.
