Feb 20, 2015 The melting point of aluminum is 1,200 degrees F. You are not going to ruin an aluminum gas block without ruining your barrel. G. I know a guy who used that same thought process when selecting an aluminum pot for smelting a fuckton of wheel weights. "Aluminum doesn't melt below 1200, and I'm only heating this lead to 750 on my fish fryer.
