The flux turned to liquid when the aluminum was hot enough, and when the brazing rod melted on the joint, the flux pulled it into the joint with capillary action.

Still your brazing rods would not melt. Next, the adjacent rivet popped out as the aluminum canoe continued to heat up. Now I had two rivet holes and a slit in the canoe.
