Oct 10, 2010 Re: floor Materials for Aluminum boat. I just ordered my wood yesterday. I checked all over and Menards was the cheapest. Theirs was marine AB, where Lowes was BC. I have 2 sheets of 3/4" ($69.99 ea.) and 5 sheets of 1/2" ($49.99 ea.) coming next week. I plan to keep this boat forever so I went with the good stuff.

It was claimed that they were discontinued because of cost, but in the modern era when pontoon boats seem to be built with no concern whatsoever for cost the aluminum floor has never made a come back.

I'm currently working on redoing a 1987 Monark 15 ft boat and after countless searches, I can't find any specifics in regards to thickness or type of sheet metal.

Nov 09, 2015 The boat is a quintrex and i understand that thickness depends on sub floor frame and how the floor is supported, but im guessing 3mm ought to be enough (considering the bottom of the boat is 3mm press out of the same material).
