Dec 01, 2012 The obvious advantage of the aluminum block is weight. Then you get added benefit -although rather insignificant- of it not rusting. As with most aftermarket blocks it also seems they are better than older OE blocks from an architecture standpoint, e.g. oiling. Cost is a huge con obviously since most are ~5k.
User Interaction Count: 43Jul 27, 2017 Aluminum has other advantages too. One is that it conducts heat much faster than cast iron (about three times faster). This means an aluminum block (or heads) can pull heat away from the combustion chamber when the engine is accelerating hard, reducing the risk of engine-damaging detonation.
作者: Larry CarleyAluminum's primary advantage is its light weight. Many blocks are half the weight of traditional iron blocks. This is especially important when you consider that every bit of that weight is over the front axle, which is a detriment to handling. Strength

An engine block is the structure which contains the cylinders, and other parts, of an internal combustion engine. In an early automotive engine, the engine block consisted of just the cylinder block, to which a separate crankcase was attached. Modern engine blocks typically have the crankcase integrated with the cylinder block as a single component. Engine blocks often also
The Wright engine was a bit crude, even by the standards of the day. It had four horizontal inline cylinders. The 4-inch bore, 4-inch stroke, cast-iron cylinders fit into a cast aluminum crankcase that extended outward to form a water jacket around the cylinder barrels. The Wright brothers' engine. The engine was cooled by water from a narrow ...
