May 27, 2016 Alum sbc heads weigh in at around half of iron heads. Stock iron sbc heads are in the 45-49 lbs range each. Alum sbc heads 21-25 lbs range each. Iron sbc intake weighs in at 40-44 lbs. Alum. sbc intake in the 13-17 lbs range. Long tube headers, I would guess to be 3-5 lbs lighter for the set than exhaust manifolds.

May 21, 2009 I agree with you completely. I did say that I thought 2 aluminum heads equal the weight of one cast iron head. One the block, I think it depends on the brand and what size studs/sleaves/mains you have on the block. We have a 8 bolt main block with 4.500 sleeves and 9/16 studs (w/ 4 extra per side/head).
Oct 25, 2000 The weight differences in a 351C block or a SVO 351 block and a 429/460 block list out at only 20-40 lbs. My SVO 351 block comes in just under 200, a 429 is like 220 or so if I remember right. I am thinking if someday I semi-retire my 71 Mach from road racing and have a car to move the SVO motor to, I will put in my 429 with some aluminum heads.
